Investing your pension in SIPPS

If you have decided to release money from your pension, one option is to then put that money in SIPPs, so that you have more control and can choose where to invest. There are plenty of different things that you can invest in with a SIPP.

SIPPs from different providers do offer varying levels of investment flexibility so make sure that the SIPP trustee you chose can satisfy your investment requirements.

Examples of areas a SIPP can invest in include:

  • Stocks and shares
  • Unquoted company shares
  • Government securities
  • Unit trusts
  • Insurance company funds
  • Traded endowment policies
  • Deposit account with banks and building societies
  • Commercial property (shops, offices, etc)

Remember when making your investment selections that past performance is no guide as to what may happen in the future. It is also worth considering taking advice from a suitably qualified individual that is more expert in the area of pensions than you.
